Palia is a cozy MMO game that inspires creativity while allowing you to ease your mind.
mY FAVOURITE pARTS
The best parts of the game in my opinion is the relaxing activities that you can do which will help you earn money and build/decorate a nice house. Decorating your plot is a primary part of the progression within Palia, A lot of the different activities you do will often have you ending up with more materials for furniture, more money for furniture, and more recipes for furniture. As well as acquiring the different items that can be used on your plot, there is a storyline that you can follow also. This storyline (which I myself haven't gotten so far through) is a nice touch for people that enjoy a more lore driven game.
As well as the story the tasks to get yourself money and exp can be very fun too. The primary way in the game at the time of playing to make money appears to be hunting. Hunting mostly consists of shooting either deer or what look to be a cross between a squirrel and a red panda with your bow to get materials which you can then sell. The task of hunting is enjoyable because you have to train your aim as well as try not to scare away the animals. As the game is in closed beta there is not more to hunting as of right now, but the hours that I have put into it have been rewarding and enjoyable.
When it comes to the other skills you can level up such as mining and foraging. These skills are levelled up by chopping down trees and mining rocks. Although this is not the most fun, Palia makes it clear and simple when it comes to understanding how to progress through these skills/fields. When it comes to the other skills like cooking and furniture making ,these naturally progress the more you do the tasks, and you will unlock more recipes for cooking/crafting through them. These different skill fields all have their own NPC dedicated to them, which I believe is good for separating the world and making it feel lived in.
Negatives
Overall the negatives section for this game will not be very large and/or detailed as the game is in closed beta as of writing this and I believe the game does not have many negatives. Besides the common bugs you would find in a closed beta, the game itself does not have too many downsides. There are simple things like allowing friends to place furniture, which I think is more of a missing feature than a negative that I will take out on the game. There are other things like when hunting in a public session, if someone is to kill a dear that you were planning on killing, you receive none of the loot, but you do sometimes if the game divides to. Its quite buggy in that regard. But overall I think the game is good and I am really happy with how the Palia closed beta has been so far.
My final review
Overall I think that if you enjoy cozy games, and think that the MMO aspect is interesting then I definitely recommend the game to you. Even if you are not certain on the MMO aspect, the game is friendly with the community and the overall gameplay is fun and engaging. For a closed beta this is a 5/5 but when it comes to a game in general it loses a star for now.
